Privacy Policy

Virakiyava (විරැකියාව) (“we”, “us”) is a job listing platform for Sri Lanka. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it and the choices you have. We aim to follow Sri Lanka’s Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022.

1. Information we collect

• Job seekers: You do not need an account to browse or apply. If you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your email address. When you click “Apply”, you are taken to the employer’s own application link or email, and your data is handled by that employer.
• Companies: When you register we collect your organization name, logo link, contact person’s name, email and phone number, your password (stored securely by our authentication provider), business registration or institution ID, website and verification document link. We also collect the job posts you submit.
• Technical data: Our hosting and database providers may log basic technical information such as IP address and browser type for security and reliability.

2. How we use information

• To publish and manage job posts and to review and verify company accounts.
• To send newsletters you subscribed to (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• To keep the platform secure, prevent fraud and fake job posts, and improve the service.
• To comply with legal obligations.

3. Local storage on your device

We store your light/dark mode choice and any jobs you “save” in your own browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us. We do not use advertising cookies.

4. Sharing of information

We do not sell personal data. Job posts (including the company name, logo and apply details provided by the company) are public. We use trusted service providers, such as Google Firebase, to host data and authenticate users. They process data on our behalf. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our users and platform.

5. Verification documents

Verification links and registration details submitted by companies are visible only to our administrators and are used only to verify the company.

6. Data retention

We keep company and job data while the account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal duties. Expired jobs may be removed or archived. You may ask us to delete your company account and related data.

7. Security

We use industry-standard tools and access controls to protect data. No online service is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

8. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and withdraw consent to marketing emails, by contacting us below.

9. Children

Our service is intended for people of legal working age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Third-party links

Job posts may link to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows the latest version.
